What are our goals?

We want to demonstrate how to help people with disabilities in Chester County become happier and healthier outdoors in nature. How? By guiding them towards parks, preserves, and trails that with paths and trails, other facilities, and programs that are accessible.

We also want to help state and county leaders to recognize areas of the county with gaps in access, and identify how these might be closed with targeted investments.

Our efforts build off of Pennsylvania's SCORP

  • While zoomed out, each numbered blue marker indicates a standalone path - or a park or preserve with at least one such path - with the number of accessible features (not including handicapped parking) to be found.  While zoomed out, click on blue markers to see a popup listing general information about the park, preserve, or standalone path.  Zoom in until the marker turns red to be able to click on the marker to see a list of accessible facilities, features, or points of natural or historical interest.  Zoom in further still to see the path itself appear, as well as the location of specific accessible facilities or points of interest.

Looking for more individualized planning and support? Add a coach

We understand just how difficult it can sometimes be to introduce new activities and routines, especially for those with more complex needs and more challenging behaviors. This is especially true for professionals responsible for planning outings for groups with diverse interests and abilities. That is why we are delighted to provide coaching through a partnership with NCHPAD and the YMCA of the Greater Brandywine Valley. Talk with us once you have completed the Walking Everywhere Module about the individualized coaching that you may need as a parent or professional for those with more complex support needs.
